Stephen is a criminal practitioner. He prosecutes and defends in Crown Courts and Magistrates Courts and has appeared in the Court of Appeal in appeals against sentence and conviction. His practice has included cases of violence, sexual offences (including offences against children), drugs offences and offences of dishonesty. Having recently completed a long secondment to the Revenue and Customs Prosecutions Office, Stephen is very familiar with drug importation offences and fraud (including the specific offences of Income Tax fraud, VAT fraud, and Tax Credits fraud). He has provided training on the Fraud Act 2006 to solicitors and to the Maritime and Coastguard Agency.

Stephen is a member of the Criminal Bar Association.

Stephen is a part-time visiting lecturer in criminal law at the University of Westminster. He is also an accredited advocacy trainer for Lincoln’s Inn.

Interests: Stephen is a keen cyclist and motorcyclist. He also enjoys sailing and walking. He has appeared on stage in everything from Shakespeare to improvised pub theatre. He is still an occasional performer in street theatre in the East End of London.
