Profile: Shabeena's criminal practice includes both prosecution and defence work in the Crown Court. She has considerable experience in dealing with cases in all areas of serious crime including murder, violent and sexual offences, firearms, drug importation and supply, and fraud.
Notable Cases include:
- R v Kashim & Ors - widely reported in the press. Murder - multi-handed, successfully defended
- R v Shah & Ors - widely reported in the press. Murder - inter-racial / gang-related, successful
- R v Siddik - Murder - multi-handed, inter-racial joint enterprise killing
- R v Bye - successful abuse of process arguments in relation to historic allegations of incestuous child sexual abuse
- R v Bunny - widely reported in the press. Sentence - case concerning sexual intercourse by a female with a minor (next-door neighbour's son)
- R v Kashim Uddin - high-profile, racial - a recent large-scale public disorder in Leeds
- R v S - large-scale conspiracy to defraud - successful legal arguments to have all counts on the indictment dismissed
Immigration practice includes appearance at all levels of the immigration court system including successful appeals in the Court of Appeal. Particular expertise in entry clearance and domicile cases. Many reported cases.
Family law practice includes extensive experience at all levels encompassing wardship proceedings, care proceedings, ancillary relief, contact matters and has appeared in County Court and High Court. Recently successfully represented a mother in complex care proceedings which had been ongoing for nearly ten years.
Shabeena is the Joint Membership Secretary to the Central London Bar Mess Committee, Joint Secretary of CEBA (Commonwealth in England Barristers Association) Committee and Social Secretary to the South Eastern Circuit Minorities Committee.
Member of the South Eastern Circuit, the Criminal Bar Association and the Family Law Bar Association.
Member of Chambers' Management Committee and Secretary to the Pupillage & Tenancy Committee.
Shabeena is involved in Chambers' prominent and extensive human rights work abroad.
Lectured at the Inns Of Court School of Law on behalf of the South Eastern Circuit Minorities Committee.
