Gwen joined 9KBW having completed her pupillage at 1 Pump Court during which she worked as a common law barrister undertaking work in immigration, civil law – housing & contract, and criminal law.

However, since joining us she has concentrated entirely on criminal law dividing her time equally between prosecution and defence. Gwen has experience in dealing with all types of cases including violent and sexual offences, drug importation and supply, dangerous weapons, burglary, robbery, public order and fraud.

Gwen regularly appears at the Crown Courts, including the Old Bailey, as both a defence and prosecution advocate while continuing to appear in both Magistrates and Youth Courts too. Gwen has extensive knowledge of dealing with vulnerable persons appearing as witnesses at court and puts this knowledge, gained running the witness service at Highbury Corner Magistrates during her law degree, to good use.

Cases include:

R v Pycock & others 2011 – re importation of Class A drugs;
R v Nwafor & another 2009 – re assault on PC & Public Order in a Greek embassy protests of 2008;
R v Miah & another 2010 – possession with intent to supply & proceeds of crime.]

Gwen is member of the South Eastern Circuit and the Criminal Bar Association and also one of our Equal Opportunity Officers. In addition, Gwen actively encourages the new pupils joining our set and participates in pupillage training at Gray’s Inn.
