Antonio Martino

Since he was called to the Bar in 1982, Antonio Martino has worked in the entertainment industry (Independent Television Association, Performing Right Society), as a solicitor (Gamlens, now Penningtons), US attorney (Ladas & Parry) and academician (Media Business School and King's College Research Centre, Cambridge University).

He returned to the Bar in 1994 joining 5 New Square (now, Hogarth Chambers) where he specialised in entertainment, copyright and trade marks law and later, in 1997, Fountain Court Chambers, practising additionally in the fields of reinsurance, international trade and general commercial law. Between 2006 and 2009 he was a rapporteur employed jointly by The Arts Council of Great Britain and King's College Research Centre; this was a fixed-term appointment during which he worked with multi-disciplinary panels investigating the legal, cultural and ethical implications of various arts practices including film, television and legitimate theatre.

A frustrated advocate, he joined 2 King's Bench Walk in late-2009 and was promptly seconded to work for the CPS (Dorset unit) for six months. He joined Chambers in November 2010 as a third-six pupil and became a tenant in March 2011.

Antonio is editor-in chief of Entertainment Law Review (Sweet & Maxwell), author of Trademark Dilution (Oxford University Press), co-author of Intellectual Property in the Internal Market of the EU (Graham & Trotman) and Pleading and Practice before the Trade Marks Registry (Intellectual Property Institute), arbitrator for the Independent Film And Television Association and author of over 30 articles.
