Andrew is a common law practitioner with a wealth of experience, having appeared in courts from Bradford to Portsmouth, and from Norwich to Swansea. He is approved as a pupil master and has had seven pupils; he has also looked after school and university students undertaking mini-pupillages.
Before call to the Bar, Andrew was employed by Slaughter and May and is therefore able to appreciate the problems of solicitors. He is very patient and approachable which makes him popular with both solicitors and clients. He is always happy to attend solicitors' offices for conferences.
Andrew's principal areas of practice are:
Crime - All levels, especially Crown Court. He has extensive experience of defending and prosecuting in all the Crown Courts in London and the south east, including the Central Criminal Court (Old Bailey), as well as Crown Courts on the Midland, North Eastern, and Western Circuits. Andrew has particular expertise in cases involving offences against children, acquired both as counsel and by attending specific courses. Notable cases
R v Z (2007) Defending a serving senior prison officer charged with assault.
R v Richards & Ors. (2008) (Wood Green Crown Court) A five day prosecution of participants in an affray and assault.
R v Khan (2008) (Huntingdon Crown Court) Defending in an assault case where the victim sustained serious injuries.
R V Omonfomah (2008) (Croydon Crown Court) Prosecution of an allegation of possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply.
R v Ozkes and Ozkes (2008( (Wood Green Crown Court) Prosecution of a husband and wife, with a background of family feuds, for affray and assault.
R v Dyer (2005) & (2007) Wood Green Crown Court. Defending historic sexual assaults on children; the first involving strangers, the second involving relatives.
CPS v Bate [2004] EWHC 2811'(Divisional Court' cited in both Archbold and Blackstone) Drink driving. When person 'in charge' of motor vehicle. Represented the Respondent
R v Balakumar (1997) (Old Bailey) Successful defence of alleged kidnapping of teenage girl.
R v Sher (1996) Successful defence of GBH with intent, and GBH, relating to an attack with a machete.
R v Brown (1997 Southwark Crown Court) Prosecuting the robbery of a millionaire.
Birmingham City Council v Dorkenoo (2004) Birmingham Magistrates Court. A three day trial defending a prosecution for noise abatement, involving expert evidence on both sides.
Family - Andrew has appeared in the High Court, County Courts, and Magistrates' Courts and employs endless patience in resolving cases involving matrimonial homes, contact, parental rights, and domestic violence. He has represented wives brought from India who are unable to speak English, and he is used to working with interpreters.
In care cases he represents fathers, mothers, children, guardians, and local authorities.

Licensing - Andrew has represented applicants and objectors in applications and appeals in all aspects of liquor licensing and, in London, night café licences. He has also been instructed in cases involving the preparation and sale of food.
